There are more "emotional toil" photos in this essay than I expected. Capitalize on that because it elevates this above similar essays that have the feel of "My friends are in a band and they let me hang out." This essay definitely doesn't feel finished to me. There's more story to tell. Perhaps that's why you had trouble editing it down. Keep working on it and my feeling is that your story "thread" will come together.

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

Judges Comments:
Jongchul, 43 images in almost any essay is far far too many. There are some exceptional and beautiful frames within this body of work but they are watered down by the excess. You allow yourself to take risks with certain images (such as frame 2) that really excel and give a feeling, but others (like #4) don’t seem to be all there. This is a personal story, one you have great access to and time is on your side. Keep making images and pushing the envelope visually, but keep in mind that your final product is only as strong as the weakest image. The saying I always try to keep in mind when editing is, “Edit until it hurts. Then cut one more.”

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

Cool.

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

Thats honesty i can appreciate.. :)))

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

panos skoulidas
March 17, 2009 at 11:28 pm
this is a plug..:)))
this is A COLLECTORS ITEM…
( plus i need to buy chronic tomorrow )

http://www.blurb.com/bookst...

please support your local starving artist…
:)
( get the hardcover… gracias amigos !!!!!!!!!! )

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

INTO THE COLD LAKE...i loved that song...!
i suggest everybody to visit their "myspace" ( link provided below )...
thank u ... loved that music........

"... Actually when I finished editing first time, I had 10 images and I used them for my class final and my website portfolio. I tried to choose only visually interesting and strong images. Several month later I noticed that even I can't understand anything about the band from 10 images. I wanted to show not only band member's practice and show but also struggling and what they do in their daily life as an art student, or a person who does not related to music to make a living. As we know about indi band, their music and performance don't pay their bills. That's what I wanted to show and share with other people. Again, I might be wrong because I wanted to say too many things with one project which can cause boring loose edited photo collection. Still I am trying to find the way to tell many things I don't want to miss with tightly edited photos.
+ response of your question: Of course not everyday but I've been working on this project about 6 months.

facebook-25006705, Thank you for comment! I also thought same thing that introducing rock band without their music can't help people understand the band because they are expressing themselves with their music. So I made one slideshow before with their music. If you are still interested in it, you can watch the slide show here : http://reths.com/handsandkn...
Also you can find them and listen more music from : http://www.myspace.com/hand...

I really appreciate to both of you and I am opened to listen any bitter and honest opinions from you.

Re: Untitled by Jongchul Lee

I was just playing around in Soundslides with these photos and they really work with music, it makes you,..
